Need someone to talk through your problems with?
Protecting our mental health and wellbeing is more important than ever with the challenges we face in today's world. Social connection and emotional support from others can play a huge part in keeping us mentally well. If you are struggling with difficult thoughts or feelings, you may benefit from reaching out to a trained counsellor for advice and support.
Welcome
Counselling offers you the space to explore your issues and find your own solutions.
There are many reasons why you might consider counselling. You might be feeling confused, overwhelmed, stressed, depressed or anxious… You may feel you need that bit of extra support… Maybe it is just too difficult to talk to those close to you about these things ...
Why attend counselling?
Are you having difficulty coping? Experiencing feelings of depression, anxiety or personal distress? Struggling to manage difficult life circumstances or resolve longstanding issues? Are you looking for professional counselling in the Clare/Limerick area?
Perhaps I may be of help.

I’m an experienced person-centred therapist offering face-to face counselling in Sixmilebridge, Co. Clare. I also offer therapy online for those who prefer to access counselling from their own home.

I offer a safe, supportive and confidential therapeutic space in which clients can explore and work through difficult issues and challenging life events. These include problems such as: panic and anxiety, depression, bereavement & loss, drug and alcohol related issues and relationship difficulties.

As a primarily person-centred therapist I work with a set of skills and attitudes that honour the uniqueness and autonomy of each client. Rather than offering treatment programs based on diagnostic labels, I work in a way that responds to an individual’s personal experience of their world and the meaning it holds for them. I also believe that our childhood and past experiences can play a role in shaping our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I believe that an exploration of the past is often useful so I integrate this approach into the therapy also.

Our life circumstances and conditioning often conspire to throw us off balance and tie us in knots, resulting in us not being able to trust and rely on our own inner resources. As a result, we can be left feeling anxious, depressed or overwhelmed in other ways.
As we start to understand our moods and motivations more clearly, we begin to integrate new insights and new aspects of ourselves into our personality. Ultimately we begin the process of moving towards greater self-compassion, self-acceptance and healing.
